With the dream to join the Indian paramilitary forces, she was about to achieve it when she got her call from the CISF (Central Indian Security Forces) until this day in 2011.
It was a normal day and Arunima was travelling on a train, while some thieves tried to rob her. As the girl of courage she was, she tried to resist them but to the surprise, she was pushed out of a moving train.
Fallen down on the railway tracks she suddenly saw a train passing by on the parallel track. She tried to move her leg away from the track but couldn't. The train passed through her leg. This accident broke her leg from below the knee. She tried to look for help, but there was no one around. She waited for someone to see and help. Until the help reached, multiple trains already passed through her broken leg and all she could do is wait.
When they rushed to the hospital, she was informed that there was no other way but her leg has to be amputated.
